No More Renter Tax aka TPT or Transaction Privilege Tax.

Starting January 2025 there will no longer be renters tax charged or collected in Arizona for tenants that are renting homes, condo, etc. This does not apply to hotels. This is a wonderful change that we are excited about. Not only will it cut down on confusion for tenants to determine what they need to pay each month it will eliminate lots of wasteful time spent trying to apply for licenses and reporting taxes to the Department of Revenue.

If you are a tenant, you will see the change on January 1st when you log in to your portal. If you have an auto payment setup, you may want to adjust that amount. If you do not adjust the amount the excess funds will be held in a prepay account and will be credited to your future charges.

If you are an owner you may want to contact the Department of Revenue after January 15th, which is when we will report and Pay December taxes that were collected and cancel your TPT license. I am told that if you license does not get reported on it will simple go away after some time so as I understand it is not mandatory that you call to cancel your license.
